obsessive consumption

i've loved kate bingaman burt's work for a while now: each day she draws a picture of what she has purchased. many are chronicled on her tumblr page and some of her daily drawings have been compiled into a book called obsessive consumption: what did you buy today?

in 2004, she began drawing her monthly credit card statements and continued to do so until she was entirely debt free in february 2010. talk about motivation to pay off your debt!

kate has also collaborated with madewell, target, ideo, newsweek and many other brands lending her unique illustration style to their projects. (madewell LA totebag illustration shown below.)
